Welcome to Butterflies and Botany! This blog will be a place to share my husband’s and my love for raising butterflies and spending time in our garden. We hope to share our passion with those who want to learn more.

How it all started?

During COVID, my family spent a lot of time in our backyard. My husband developed his love for planting…yes, he’s a total plant-dad and has a serious green thumb! One day, he brought home Milkweed, which is the host plant for Monarch butterflies. Before long we had a few caterpillars and we were hooked from the beginning.

Since then, we’ve learned more about different types of butterfly species and have been raising them ever since.

There is something so special about watching a tiny caterpillar grow until they form into a chrysalis and transform into a beautiful butterfly. Being able to watch the process from beginning to end is highly satisfying.
